1 lb of the world's freshest Rwandan Bourbon Arabica medium roast filter ground coffee. Kivu noir is a premium handcrafted coffee, made with meticulous care and attention to detail that you can taste in every luxurious sip. The highest quality Red Bourbon Arabica beans, sourced from Rwanda, are used to create a uniquely African coffee – rich and complex, yet delicate and pure.

In the processing of our coffee, our staff, who are predominantly women from the local area, pick and sort the cherries by hand. The Kivu noir women sift through the cherries after dry milling to remove any that are less than absolutely perfect – only the brightest red cherries are selected to ensure the best possible flavor.

    Delivery:

3 – 5 working days in the USA.

    Cup profile:

The coffee has a nice aroma (honey, floral, dark chocolate, nut, coriander seeds) sweet with many fruits (orange, grapefruit, apple), spicy (clove like, blackcurrant, vanilla) and is well balanced with medium acidity. The cup is very clean and the aftertaste is extremely smooth. The overall score is 86%.

The beans are then roasted by our expert roaster, Maria, who tends to the coffee beans as they tumble, swell, and change color from sage to straw, to chestnut brown. She makes sure to pull them from the hot drum at just the right time, sensitive to the difference even a few seconds can make. Through this meticulous craft of roasting, tasting, and adjusting, we develop the coffees rich and unique flavor.

BEAUTIFUL KIGALI

In the centre of Africa, 4,800 ft above sea level lies Rwanda’s deepest body of water, Lake Kivu. Keeping a dark secret, Lake Kivu’s bed sits upon a rift valley that is slowly being pulled apart, causing volcanic activity in the area. The sixth biggest lake in Africa, Kivu is one of the fresh water lakes in Africa’s Great Rift Valley and sits on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The tourist board has labelled Rwanda the Land of a Thousand Hills. From the volcanoes, to the jungles that house a third of the world’s remaining gorillas, to the largest rainforest in Africa, Rwanda has a history of environmental conservation. The tiny, landlocked country ripples with steep, terraced hillsides. Forward thinking and empowering, Rwanda is one of the safest countries in Africa, which is emerging as an economic force on the continent.

These qualities are epitomised in the high-tech efficiency and clever planning of its capital, Kigali. Clean streets, well manicured green spaces and friendly people make this an ideal place to visit.

JUNGLES THAT HOUSE A THIRD OF THE WORLD’S REMAINING MOUNTAIN GORILLAS

The Volcanoes National Park is 48 square miles of mountain forest, the six Virunga Volcanoes and the world famous Mountain Gorillas. The lush, green forested mountain slopes are home to these highly endangered animals. Gorilla trekking has become one of the most memorable wildlife experiences on the planet and has served to raise awareness and funds, and despite setbacks the population of these great apes is steadily growing.

RWANDA’S DEEPEST BODY OF WATER, LAKE KIVU

In the centre of Africa, 4,800 ft above sea level lies Rwanda’s deepest body of water, Lake Kivu. Keeping a dark secret, Lake Kivu’s bed sits upon a rift valley that is slowly being pulled apart, causing volcanic activity in the area.

Dominating the border between Rwanda and the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo), Lake Kivu is the sixth-largest lake in Africa and one of a string of huge freshwater lakes in Africa’s Great Rift Valley.
